Sustainable Features + Benefits

Design:

Features: Design is the main elegance to b*evolved Island Resort concept. With attention to detail our Architects have taken into consideration native and traditional Fijian building methods and will bring in a modern version of original construction - one feature we will add to the design based off traditional Fiji bure is to bring in a passive cooling design.

Benefits: Air-Conditioning consumes lots of energy, a benefit to combining a passive cooling system in our design and construction throughout the Resort will use little to no traditional energy. Ultimately the benefit will be to only use an effective passive cooling design.

Construction:

Features: Using local sustainable materials like bamboo and timber from nearby certified forests. All materials used for construction are within high certified standards for building and construction and by recognized by organizations such as LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) the US Green Building Rating system and other ratings systems like this.

Benefits: the materials, last longer or were harvested or manufactured to promote the growth and development of fast growing natural resources

Waste Water:

Features: For blackwater, we use a state of the art water treatment process, where all wastewater is plumbed from each existing septic tank, to a small discrete water treatment plant. Once in the greywater state, we filter into natural eco-ponds where a natural filtration process can occur.

Benefits: this water is then treated with an ultraviolet system that both grey-water and dry bed waste can be reused to water and be added to the compost in giving back to maintain nutrient to the foliage around the island - all without any odor or harmful seepage.

Electricity

Features: Solar and Wind are two main ways to capture natural resources with out depleting the earth. There is advanced technology with the systems we will use for powering the island - after energy is harnessed, it is stored in a special generator where energy input and output can be monitored from a main panel and remotely. This main unit will also be wired to each individual Bure where Guests themselves can access and monitor their own energy usage.

Benefits: This will provide our Guest a first hand, user experience on utilizing a system to enable a consciousness - to see how the system actually works on a whole, this awareness provides the willingness to see new possibilities to benefit their immediate living space, while living on the island is a constant reminder to live responsibly and in balance with our environment.

Wind

Features: Offshore wind farming with turbines placed in the open waters

Benefits: Using the Seatower, is a Cranefree turbine platform they are cheaper and easier to install not requiring tremendous equipment and provides a less visually intrusive approach to the land based units to harness wind and sea movement for energy use.

Agriculture

Features: Farm From a Box; Plug and Play units. Soil and Crop Sensors are placed in ground, in the garden to monitor the Soil Sensor features include the monitoring of soil electrical conductivity, ground elevation, organic matter and pH levels.

Benefits: Monitoring the soil and systems remotely, we will benefit in knowing what nutrients are missing and which ones are harmful to the growth of the crops. With Farm From a Box and their integrates technologies, Soil and Crop Sensor Technology we can actually track the best possible soil and water administration to develop the best possible methods for grow crops.

Environment

Features: Resource Regeneration also known as Regenerative Design we will us guidelines and programs within all of the following subject matter: food, water, soil, health, shelter, community arts and sciences.

Benefits: living within the potentials and limitations of renewable resources creates a solid structure to acknowledge when consuming, building or designing materials and using products. Creating ongoing awareness that will operate in the background of the resort operations.

Human Potential

Features: A specialized feature for sustaining the well-being of humans and the expanding personal development sector, we feature LifeStyle Concierge - your personal life coach assistant in person and in place to contribute to the daily actions and practices to improving your mental, physical and spiritual balance and overall health.

Benefits: When each human fully comprehends their personal power we can access and experience an exceptional quality of life, one filled with happiness, creativity and fulfillment. To cultivate of ourselves first and see the potential we have to make positive impacts, we are naturally drawn as a human condition, to give back to others. Features: Intrinsic to the conversation of sustainability research and documentation of “what works” and “what doesn’t”. International internships are offered as a live and interactive approach to studying the isolated effects and impacts of the Eco-Island Resort.

Benefits: Ever-evolving the effectiveness of sustainability in and through education. Furnishing the future of all new findings from the Island to be broadcasts to global community and to lead this ever-evolving conversation of sustainability.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Features: We offer top corporations who are currently involved with the leading edge of CSR practices a membership. To be a member, your company must qualify with a minimum acceptable income implemented toward CSR programs and a criteria of CSR practices that have proven effective within your company's systems already.

Benefits: The chosen top companies will be the CSR leadership team to inspire and continually raise the bar in the CSR of business throughout other big corporations across the globe. The biggest benefit to membership is the high level conversation, workshops and training in the executive/ corporate retreat programs.

Environmental Science and Ocean Institute

Features: Led by top tier Scientists, Located in the South Pacific, our Research Lab offers hands-on exploration of diverse marine environments. With our Global Internship Program you will collaborate with other aspiring marine scientists from around the world Engage in groundbreaking projects to advance marine sciences and contribute to ocean preservation.

Benefits: As an in intern, you will benefit from personalized and real world experience to support and empower yourself and the future of your education to make a meaningful impact in environmental and marine sciences.

Overall:

Construction of the resort utilized local sustainable materials like bamboo and timber from nearby certified forests. Energy for the resort is partially provided by solar panels, and some water for irrigation comes from capturing rain and run-off. There is also a state-of-the art onsite water filtration and desalination plant, capable of holding 1.2 million liters.

The resort’s wastewater treatment system helps provide clean water for the landscaped lagoons.

A stroll through the resort reveals a lush, edible landscape with fresh coconuts, a variety of tropical fruits, a four-acre organic vegetable and herb garden. This landscape is both beautiful and practical, as it supplies much of the fresh food for the resort’s kitchen, reducing the cost and emissions of transporting imported food.

In addition, each day’s menu incorporates fresh fish from local waters outside the reef, in keeping with local sustainable fishing practices.

In regard to sustainable management practices, b*evolved Island believes that every guest makes a difference and that guests genuinely want to contribute to other people and our planet. We collaborate with guest as our partners to preserving our oceans and our environments.

As important as it is for us to operate and manage b*evolved Island with sustainable practices, we believe we have a far greater impact if every guest who stays at the resort returns to their homes inspired to adopt these practices in their everyday lives and to spread the word.

By utilizing and protecting the natural resources of the reefs that surround the island as a marine protected area, we offer an abundance of elevated and hands-on educational activities for our guests to demonstrate the timeless connection between the ocean, the land and the people.

Most, if not all of b*evolved Island’s activities support and promote a greater understanding and appreciation for nature and the importance of native populations and cultures.

There are a variety of ways we continue expand on the sustainability aspects of b*evolved Island, to lead the conversations of importance, we employ a full-time resident Marine Biologist, Oceanic Study and Research groups, Top Chefs and Nutritionist, Agriculturist/ Botanist, and Holistic & Traditional Medics.
